On March 29, 2016, BURCH Diplomacy Club organized the first open discourse for all students and BURCH University employees.
The topic at hand was „Does the Time Fit the Crime: an Open Discourse about the ICTY's Verdict Against Radovan Karadžić.“ The guest speakers were Prof. Dr. Ešref Kenan Rašidagić, Prof. Dr. Dževada Šuško and Prof. Haris Hasić.
All highlighted the importance of the verdict at the first instance against Radovan Karadžić through several ways: Prof. Dr. Šuško spoke about the conditions which allowed the rise of the former, while Prof. Hasić and Prof.Dr. Rašidagić spoke about the righteousness of the punishment and the effects the same will have on internal and foreign policies of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
„The seeds for this war were sown in the previous and the seeds for the next war in this one if history continues repeating,“ said Prof.Dr. Rašidagić whilst speaking about the necessity of reconcilliation and the ways in which the verdict will assist in that process.
The many participants posed many questions, put forward their reaction and opinions, as well as actively participated in the open discourse.
