On 12.05.2016, „Pod lupom“ a coalition of non-governmental organizations supported by several government and foreign institions, in cooperation with Burch Diplomacy Club held the first of several workshops at the International BURCH University for students of the Department of International Relations and European Studies.
The workshop is intended for first-time voters and aims to train young people as prepared voters through a simulation of voting, among other activities. Candidates simulate local elections by having some be candidates for municipal mayor, others forming the election council, and the rest being members of the electorate.
Besides the acquired knowledge, candidates have the opportunity to be observers at the upcoming elections and, by that, enrich their CV and earn some pocket money.
19 students took part in this workshop with the trainer, Emir Kustura, and were satisfied with the experience and gained knowledge.
„I'm very glad that I had the opportunity to participate in this workshop and I eagerly await the elections in October to use this knowledge,“ said Mersiha Jaskić, a student of International Relations and European Studies.
This is only the first of several workshops which are planned for the other students of International BURCH University. Seperate workshops are planned for each department.
