Lecture held at Burch University about ICTY Practice in Adjudicating Genocide and Crimes against Humanity

On Wednesday, April 27, Ms. Lauranne Duffaut, a representative of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, held a lecture on the topic of ICTY Practice in Adjudicating Genocide and Crimes against Humanity at the International Burch University. She met with the Rector, Prof. Dr. Teoman Duman, who handed her appropriate gifts as a sign of appreciation for her visit to International Burch University.


The organizers were the Department of International Releations and European Studies and Burch Diplomacy Club. Tenative pledges for further cooperation in the form of student-ICTY interaction and a donation to the Burch University library in the form of books and other reading material were made.

Members of the audience took an active part in the lecture, discussing the topics mentioned by Ms. Duffaut and posing many questions.

Ms. Lauranne Duffaut is an Associate Legal Officer at the Appeals Chamber of the ICTY. Prior to that, she has worked in the Extraordinary Chambers in the Court of Cambodia, for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and with Human Rights Watch. She obtained her LL.M. at the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
