On Monday, November 28, 2016, Burch Diplomacy Club organized a public lecture by Mr. Miro Lazović, the co-chairperson of the Sarajevo City Council, on the topic of „Peace Negotiations over Bosnia and Herzegovina as Guardians of Her Statehood“ in honor of Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He spoke about the process of declaring independence and his pivotal role as president of the Assembly of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the Washington Agreement that created the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Dayton Peace Agreement.
Before the lecture, Mr. Lazović met with the rector of International Burch University and discussed timely topics such as the future of the country and central-periphery tensions.
Students actively participated in the lecture, asking several questions related to the topic.
Mr. Lazović expressed satisfaction with International Burch University and commended Burch Diplomacy Club for superbly organizing the public lecture.
Burch Diplomacy Club awarded Mr. Lazović with honorary membership as a sign of gratitute for his tireless efforts aimed at preserving the unity of the Bosnian state.
Mr. Lazović spent most of his life in public, serving as the president of the Assembly of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a delegate in the House of Peoples of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and as co-chairperson of the Sarajevo City Council. He was also a member of every peace delegation that aimed to end the 1992-1995 war in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
